let's say i'm playing a HUSNG... and i raise to 60 with pocket 77. then the other guy shoves all in. and let's say that i knew for certain that the had AKo. even though i have the correct pot odds to make the call, (since my sevens are ahead and there's already a bit in the pot)... i still might make the fold. because maybe i think that this guy is a bad player, and i'll be able to get my money in as a bigger favourite later. or maybe he's just really passive and i can grind him down over time without ever risking my stack. If i fold the 77s, and then i play agressively and make him fold a lot post-flop... i might be able to get him down to 700 chips before i would consider putting all my money in preflop. so against a bad player... you're not looking for just a slight edge or the correct "pot odds"... you're looking to win the match, and ideally, without much risk. and the best way to win a HUSNG, is to just grind the other guy down... were you basically play a lot post flop where you can be more certain of the outcome. it's only when the villian has less than maybe 12 big blinds, that i just want to get it all in preflop.
